Habitat: Ubiquitous in open areas and woods' edges

 

Adult Food Source: Feed on sap,carrion, aphid honey dew and nectar from some wildflowers and native shrubs

 

Larval Food Plant: Orchard grass (Dactylis glomerata), Little Bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium), Kentucky Bluegrass (Poa pratensis), and other grasses

 

Winter Stage: Fourth instar larva

 

Comments: This species "bouncy" flight style is typically observed along woods' edges usually quite low, just over the tops of grasses and wildflowers.
